I really value holidays as a time to recharge, take in new sites, and experience different cultures. Mexico was one of my favourite holidays so far, and I got to enjoy time there with my wife and friends. Over the first two days, the weather was a bit cloudy and chilly. The upsides were that we had the resort and beach almost to ourselves, and I got to take some really dramatic photos. After that, we got to enjoy some classic Mexican sunshine. We rented a car, which was the perfect way to explore some beaches, cities, and Mayan ruins around Yucatán. One of the most impressive sites we visited was Chichén Itzá, one of the most famous Mayan cities in Mexico. The ruins, and particularly the Temple of Kukulkan with its pyramid of steps, were breath-taking. We also especially enjoyed Ik Kil, a cenote with vines hanging down 26 metres into a pool of deep blue water. Other highlights of the trip included trying amazing new food, meeting lovely Mexican people, and simply relaxing surrounded by beautiful sites.
