Wedding videographers in Ireland
7 the best wedding filmmakers in the wedding industry
It’s finally that day, the preparations of months past are all coming to a reality. To children are oblivious of the stress it took to make this day possible. One little kid might even be eyeing the icing on the cake. What more beautiful sight than this? Having to finally end with that special someone in your life forever. Very few ever get to relive moments like this, maybe through re-marriage or some sort of reaffirmation of love.
Since moments like this most times come once in a lifetime, keeping records and visual memories of moments like these are paramount. Now imagine all these beautiful imageries and fleeting moments, ended up not being captured by your wedding filmmaker. I know right, that’s what happens when you overlook the hiring of an excellent wedding filmmaker.
Capturing exciting moments in your wedding goes beyond just hiring a photographer who would bring his tag-along buddy to capture one of the most important days of your life. It involves artistry from professionals who would take moments in your wedding and produce excellent wedding cinematography that would be worthy of an Oscar.
These videographers most times are trained in the art of subtlety capturing moments in your wedding without being conspicuous. Most times, hiring these professionals can be very expensive or be on the high side, and this is due to the services which they offer to their clients. Most videographers are usually equipped with a team of experts that have several roles to play in making a great wedding film.
It is now the rave of cinematography, to employ the use of sophisticated instruments such as drones, exceptional lighting, state of the art cameras and accessories. All these are put in a combined effort to satisfy and provide jaw-dropping wedding films. These wedding filmmakers also give their clients access to several formats of their wedding video in order to aid easy sharing. 4K videos and beautiful edits are some of the raves in the visual world, and a top-notch wedding filmmaker has you covered in that aspect.
There are a lot of reasons why hiring a professional and expert wedding filmmaker is the right choice. On your wedding day, there is a big bet that you would be carried away with all the activities going on around you, and this doesn’t give you the chance to properly overseer the affairs of every single person working to make your wedding a success. Quality wedding filmmakers are well trained to work with every single person under your employ. Their attention to detail is most times superb, as they have the eyes to spot emotions that about to erupt and even the most minute detail.
A professional, most times doesn’t have any issue working with the photographer, although it is advisable to let them work with their own team. Although both photography and cinematography are similar, it is best not to mix them up, and an expert videographer understands this based on their different purposes.
At this point in time, the world is evolving, and keep memories is something that has now become a mainstay in our society. Social media, the internet, and technology have given us a reason to record these happy moments in life. Considering all this, the skeptical thoughts of not having a videographer at your wedding should be put aside. In all honesty, they can be very expensive, but later you would find out that it was really worth it. This guide has you covered in the case of having doubts over which videographer to hire. But before we delve into that, let us take a look at some of the reasons why you should hire a videographer for your wedding.
Reasons why you should hire a wedding cinematographer
Nothing beats the thrill of having to watch step by step moments of your wedding day. A good wedding film would capture not just memories, but sound and exciting moments from your wedding. Although photography does a bit of memory capturing, the images cannot pass across the intensity of the moment the way well-filmed wedding cinematography would do.
A photographer has ways through which they help in preserving records of your wedding day, but the cinematographer sees most of the thrill and captures it with the sound and ambiance around the moments. You can rest assured that seeing a video of your first dance with your partner would always bring back nostalgic feelings, and in some way, spark up more thrills. A well-documented wedding film takes all those moments and replays it for you and your loved ones over and over.
Truth be told, marriage brings along with it a certain change in the way of life of the couples, and by this, the idea of moving away from a specific environment and starting anew. This sudden shift can be tough to cope with. But you can rest assured that a video of your best friends, giving a speech about you on your wedding day might just be all it takes to lift your spirits.
A couple of years from now, your kids are growing, and they see their parents all adult-ly and uncool. How do you remind them of a time when you rocked your wedding with your really cool dance steps? Yes, that is one of the advantages of videos, but this is not any video, it is a film about one of the best days of your life. Nothing beats visual proof!.
In conclusion, a lot of couples consider having a wedding filmmaker, due to the overall cost of hiring them, and fitting them into the wedding budget. That is a very good factor to consider too, as ending up in great debts would be pure folly. However, other solutions can be proffered on how to get a wedding film without so much cost, but then, if you have the funds and capacity to hire a wedding filmmaker, just do it.

How did you come to wedding videography?
Throughout my life I have always been involved in videography in some form or another, when I went through school/University I chose the career path of Creative Media which put me in a role of content creation for five years, involving graphic design, videography, motion graphics and more. During this time I wasn’t satisfied in my role and wanted more creative freedom, to travel more and just find something that made me happier.
I always had ideas and dreams about starting various businesses but it wasn’t until my son was born that I felt more driven to chase that, I noticed within the wedding industry there was a huge amount of photographers pushing new creative styles but not so much within videography, so I chose to follow that path from the beginning.
How would you describe your style?
My style truly depends on the couple – while overall I aim to produce something, cinematic, creative, unique and of a consistent quality free from anything cheesy or uncomfortable, I base it all around the couples styles and personalities. Some can be emotional and powerful, others can be energetic and fun – there is no right or wrong.
Who or what is inspiring you at the moment?
I will always be inspired by film and series – it doesn’t necessarily have to be something obscure and arty – series like ‘Atlanta’ & ‘GIRLS’ have always proven to be a great source of inspiration for composition. Some Netflix documentaries have been a great resource for inspiring pace, sound design and b-roll.
What advice would you give newly engaged couples?
Videography is often one of the most overlooked or dismissed things when weddings are being planned but it is always cited as the biggest regret for those who don’t have it.
Along with your photography it’s one of the only things you will have to take away from the day – when time goes on, the value of your photo and films will only increase tenfold.
When booking your photography and videography it’s important to put together a team that firstly suits you, and secondly who’s work and styles complement one another. There will always be someone cheaper, but just focus on the vendors whose work you love the most – the expense (even if slightly over-budget) will always be worth it.

How did you come to wedding videography?
Like a lot of people in the industry, by pure accident. I bought a camera three years ago, made a little video at a friend’s wedding in Italy a few weeks later and things just snowballed from there.
How would you describe your style?
Pretty relaxed, I try to take a documentary approach to most of the day and try not to force things too much when it comes to couples’ portraits. Clean, simple and elegant is always how I hope my films come across.
Who or what is inspiring you at the moment?
Taika Waititi. I watched Jojo Rabbit last week and some of the shots in there were out of this world.
What advice would you give newly engaged couples?
Don’t approach wedding planning as a box ticking exercise. Really think about the elements of the day that are important to you as a couple. Once you have that figured out direct your budget accordingly.

What advice would you give newly engaged couples?
While planning your wedding day there are a few things that are absolutely worth the cost: your photographer, your videographer. Those vendors will be some of the best investments you’ll make for your wedding! So, if you need a place to start when setting budget priorities, start with those vendors. It will help you to avoid writing email like this one below.
‘Hi guys,
Thanks for getting back to me, I’m devastated but I expected it as I’ve left it so late! Thanks though!
Best wishes for the future you’re both amazing at what you do, if only I’d found you’d sooner!’

How did you come to wedding videography?
My adventure with the wedding video started few years back from my fascination with drones and its use in the wedding industry. I have seen this new technology may have huge influence in bringing the wedding video to a next level. Many couples were interested in the idea but they were looking for the whole package and this led me successfully to expand my service and cover the whole wedding day. Since then I built my rich portfolio with many great video clips combining the two methods.
How would you describe your style?
I aim to capture those natural emotions, this tension, excitement, happiness and fun that accompany every wedding day. I love shooting romantic sessions with beautiful landscapes in the background. I think of the nature as a powerful theme for presenting those intangible and lively feelings.
Who/What is inspiring you at the moment?
I am impressed by the world trend in the cinematic wedding videography where wedding videos become short artistic masterpieces. The editors express their vision in presenting the wedding at it gist day by combining chosen footage scenes, music, words, and light in their unique style. It gives it a strong meaning and easily watches with one breath.
What advice would you give newly engaged couples?
I would strongly encourage them to look into the standard of watched wedding videos. If they try to judge the amount of artistic work put into it, quality of footage used and attention to detail presented it would give them an idea on what to expect from their wedding video.

How did you come to wedding videography?
Long story short, since I was a little kid, I remember I was always interested in movies and cinema. I started dabbling in photography in college as a hobby, but always had a dream of making films and videos. I started out in doing some promotional videos for my brothers business, and then that spiraled onto some bigger projects for the county council and bigger companies.
One of my good friends is a wedding photographer and half jokingly he asked me if I was interested in doing wedding films. At the time I didn’t have a clue on how to do that, as it’s a completely different style from documentary and corporate videos. But me, being a hopeless romantic at heart, the idea of filming wedding intrigued me.
So just like that, I did my first wedding back in 2016 and I absolutely fell in love with it! That first ever film I did is still one of my favorite films I ever did as I managed to capture the ‘soul’ of the day. The bookings started coming in and the rest is history.
How would you describe your style?
To simply put it I would describe my style as ‘Cinematic Documentary Films’, but what does that mean? :) To elaborate a little on that, I would say that in general my approach to the day is quite relaxed and I document whatever is happening. I’m not a big fan of staging things.
I love to capture the real emotions, tears, laughter and the good vibe in general that is unfolding in front of me throughout the day as I believe these moments are the ones that the couples will love to look back on years to come. I try to blend in with the guests and stay out of your way :).
Imagine me as another guest just with cameras :D I’ve quite often been told by the couples I’ve worked with that they haven’t noticed me all day and I managed to capture so many moment they have missed. So that’s the documentary side of it.
As for cinematic – well that comes into play in the editing room mostly. :) I love my films to have a story, hence I love to use snippets from the speeches, vows or maybe even letters if a couple chooses so which all helps with building the story element of the film. My films are usually a little slower paced, but still very vibrant and engaging. I want the positive emotions to run through the whole film.
All the films are built around the music and I take my music choice very carefully. Sometimes it takes days to find the song that works for the film.
Who or what is inspiring you at the moment?
I try to stay away from other filmmakers in the industry apart from a few rare occasions. Mostly I am inspired by cinema in general. I absolutely love movies – anything from horror to light hearted comedies and everything in between. There is always something I can to learn from them. Whether it be the choice of song or sound effects to help move the story along or choices of composition to express the mood of the shot.
For example, one of my all time favorite movies is Gladiator starring Russell Crowe. There is a beautiful shot where he is walking in a wheat field and the camera shows his hand touching the wheat heads as he slowly walks across the field. One of my couple wanted to do some shots in a field like that and I knew straight away I wanted to try to replicate that shot and I can tell you it looked beautiful! :)
What advice would you give newly engaged couples?
I guess I could give 2 pieces of advice:
1. When choosing the videographer I always encourage to try and have a chat with them either on the phone or Skype or a meeting if possible. You will have that person following you around all day and you want to make sure you guys are a good fit and you get a good vibe from your videographer :) Also don’t be afraid to ask questions.
We do this everyday so we know the terminology and the packages like the backs of our hands so if you’re not sure about something or maybe want something slightly different – don’t be afraid to ask :)
2. Also one advice I always give is when planning timing for the morning preparations, always add on 15-20 minutes on things. For example if you plan to get into the dress at 12 pm. Make sure you tell you makeup artist and hair stylist you have to get into the dress at 11.40 am. 99% of weddings I’ve been to things always run late in the morning and then it’s just unnecessary stress :).
So if you tell everyone you have to be in the dress at 11.40 and makeup and hair is done – happy days! You will have a few minutes to spare to relax and have a glass of prosecco with the girls :) If makeup runs a bit late – you still have a bit of room there so no panic ;)
