Intimate Wedding at Corcomroe Abbey
Weddings are amazing. They’re part of the reason why I became a wedding photographer. Being able to document couples on that day of joy is great. I love weddings of all kinds, whether big or small. That’s why I was ecstatic when Erin and Thang asked me to capture their intimate wedding at Corcomroe Abbey. They are from the US and decided to elope to Ireland. You had to be there to feel the magic, but I was able to capture some of it in the paragraphs below.
Getting Dressed
This journey starts with the couple getting ready at Gregan’s Castle. This luxury location is nestled in the heart of the beautiful Burren on the west coast of Ireland. Thang had a lovely fun and bonding moment getting ready with his groomsmen. He put on his wine-coloured suit, got a spritz of perfume and had fun getting his lovely pre-wedding portraits taken. I was also able to take amazing pictures of him with his groomsmen too. We even used a vintage cigar as a wedding prop.
Next, I took lovely pictures of Erin and her ladies. They had fun getting dressed and helping each other put on their makeup. They also had a mini party and shared a glass of champagne. I was also able to capture this. After this, Erin put on her gorgeous off-white wedding gown. I was then able to take amazing pre-wedding portraits of her too. She looked elegant and ready to regale everyone. You’ll see what I mean in the wedding images they were a beauty to behold. After these, we departed for the Corcomroe Abbey wedding. This was an afternoon wedding, so the bus left the hotel for the Abbey at 1:30 pm.
The Ceremony
Erin and Thang had their intimate ceremony at the stone ruins of a stately 13th-century Cistercian monastery known as Corcomroe Abbey. Thang took one look at Erin walking down to the lovely harp music in the background and got so emotional that we were all affected too. It was such a beautiful moment.
Something That Stood Out at The Ceremony
This couple’s wedding featured a hand binding ceremony. It was such a lovely addition to their intimate wedding at this historic location in Ireland’s West Coast. This culture came down from ancient Celtic culture where the couple used to be bound together for a year. This was to prove that they could survive their marriage to each other.
Nowadays, a hand binding ceremony is to signify a couple’s devotion and connection to each other. Erin and Thang had their hand bound by their celebrant, said their vows, exchanged their rings and then shared their first kiss. They walked out to showers of confetti from their guests. I was able to take lovely photos of Erin and Thang at Corcomroe Abbey. The photos of their ceremony and the one with all the guests at their ceremony also looked amazing.
The Photoshoot at The Cliffs of Moher
I was able to sneak Erin and Thang away for some breathtaking shots at the Cliffs of Moher. The portrait session we’re able to capture some spectacular cliff-side scenes and are my favorite from the day. The showed the intimacy and strong love between this lovely couple.
The Reception
Eric and Thang’s wedding reception took place at The Vaughn’s pub. It’s where we headed after the photo session. It was a beautiful reception filled with smiling guests, fairy lights and beer. The cake cutting and speeches went beautifully. So also did all the toasts and the couple’s first dance. I was also able to sneak the couple away again for some lovely night pictures that featured play with lighting and also came out looking amazing. After that, it was fun and party galore that I was happy to capture and be a part of too.
What I Think of Erin And Thang’s Wedding
I had lots of fun at this couple’s intimate elopement wedding. Capturing their memorable moments in all the unique locations for their wedding was amazing. My love for artistic weddings was also shown through the amazing and artistic images that I was able to capture, of this wedding. Thank you so much for the opportunity, Eric and Thang. I also had a great time at this wedding.
